animated broom/ broom of animated attack mini which I use in my Dungeons & Dragons 5E games

Focus on a D&D 5E mini: animated broom and its predecessor

Why bother with a broom of animated attack/ animated broom miniature?

Animated brooms are a fun way to mess with low level PC’s; these constructs don’t do a lot of damage, but they are unexpected and can add a level of paranoia to your players once they realise that almost anything might be a creature waiting to attack them. It’s not a mini that you will want to use often, or the element of surprise will be lost, but every once in a great while they provide a bit of a fun change.

What about this mini?

This unpainted metal mini fits a small/medium base, which makes me happy since the animated broom/broom of animated attack is meant to be small. This miniature comes from RPE, Ral Partha Europe, Sentient broom #WZ101. It’s a very cartoony sculpt, but I don’t mind it this time, as it kind of fits the little guy. It’s a fun little mini that gives me joy every time I look at it. Ral Partha has been making great miniatures since the 1970’s, and while this mini is a newer sculpt, it continues in the long line of minis that look absolutely great.

How useful is this mini, really?

Animated brooms/ brooms of animated attack are included in only 2 published Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition books:

That’s not a lot of the books. This miniature would be an easy pass, except that 1) it is so cute, 2) it’s a great mini for throwing into nearly any scenario (who doesn’t have a broom in their house?), and 3) it’s very cheap for a metal mini. It was both fun and easy to paint as well.

But why are you doing this?

As usual for these videos, my aim is to provide you with good views of all angles of the miniatures featured, along with accurate sizing information for them. As I already pointed out, the animated broom/ broom of animated attack miniature is on a small sized base as it is meant to be. In addition I want to thank master wildlife artist Sherrie York, an incredibly skilled reduction linocut artist, for graciously allowing me to use one of her reduction linocuts, Shivano Sunset, as the backdrop for my miniatures in the video. Check out her other reduction linocuts; she is, in my opinion, the best linocut artist of our generation.
