death slaad mini from my D&D game

Focus on a D&D 5E miniature: death slaad

Who wants a slaad mini?

Welcome back while I chat about another miniature from my collection. This time it’s about one of the Aberrations, the death slaad. The death slaad’s stats can be found on page 278 of the Monster Manual. Death slaad have a lot of really cool at will magical effects that make them very versatile as villains, so they tend to be used a lot in the official Dungeons and Dragons published materials. In addition, they often lead invasions for other slaad types, so having a death slaad miniature on hand is never a bad idea.

Both evil and fit

This miniature was sold unpainted by WizKids through their Nolzur’s Magnificent Miniatures range as a part of their grey slaad & death slaad pack #73353. Besides the death slaad, you get a grey slaad in the pack as well. If you’re using one slaad you might as well start collecting minis for the other slaad types, as they work really well together. One can never have too many slaads. The other ones are definitely more colourful though, so get your palette ready if you decide to start a slaad collection. They are a fun group though, and I like WizKid’s miniatures of them. One of the things which really stands out on them for me is how, for being evil aberrant toad creatures, they have such pert bottoms. All of them- it’s clearly a slaad thing.

How useful is this mini, really?

Death slaad are included in these 12 published Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition books:

As usual for these videos, the aim is to provide good views and sizing information. The size is medium as it is meant to be, so that’s all good. Even if you don’t like painting miniatures very much, this one isn’t too bad, as there are so few colours on the creature. Also, as usual I want to thank wildlife artist Sherrie York, the master of the reduction linocut, for kindly allowing me to use one of her pieces, Shivano Sunset, as the backdrop for the minis.
